Under the direction of the Cyber Security Manager:

This position is responsible for the protection of OIA's networks, applications, systems, and data through security testing, threat hunting, and control validation. This position will also support incident response processes. The Cyber Security Engineer provides support for all areas of IT as they strive to develop secure systems. They will primarily focus on the cyber security operation and administration aspects of the Information Technology team, performing initial analysis of threats against OIA's information systems, organizing and documenting processes, and educating staff on security best practices. This role will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure network infrastructure and systems environment, ensuring adherence to industry standards, best practices, and frameworks such as NIST Cyber Security Framework, ISO 27001, HITRUST, HIPAA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network and systems administration.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

4+ years of experience in network and systems administration
Common knowledge of security threat tactics and prevention & detection techniques, understanding of common security vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
Expertise in firewall administration, virtualization technologies, and Windows environments.
Experience with mobile device management, business productivity suite administration, EPP/EDR/XDR platforms, Identify and Access management, cloud resource security management a plus.
Proficiency in vulnerability assessment tools a plus.
Knowledge of risk management principles and methodologies a plus

EDUCATION:

High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, preferred. Relevant experience and/or appropriate industry certification(s) may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Vendor specific or general networking, systems, cloud, and security certifications are preferred

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Proven experience in providing technical support both in person and remotely.
Experience with hardware and software for networking, distributed computing, virtualization, large-scale, high-performance storage systems, operating systems, databases, telephony, and cloud computing.
Advanced technical troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills.
Expertise with and ability to speak fluently with other IT infrastructure experts (telecommunications, network operations, server operations, etc.).
Experience with MDR/EDR/XDR platforms.
Vulnerability review and assessments.
Malware and incident response.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently.
Monitor and support server backups, virus protection, and patch management.
